Maty Young, founder of Young One Studio, is a filmmaker based in Los Angeles. His creative journey began at the age of 12 in Perth, Western Australia, where he started as an actor and musician. He received his formal training at the world-renowned Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) before launching Young One Studio in Melbourne in 2014. In 2018, Maty relocated to Los Angeles, shifting his focus toward film and digital media. His work has been featured on platforms including Apple TV, HBO Max, and at the Cannes Film Festival. Over the course of his career, Maty has written, directed, and photographed more than 100 cinematic demo reel scenes, served as cinematographer on three feature films and director on one feature film, with his second feature as Director of Photography now streaming on Apple TV. He has also worked as cinematographer, director, or both on more than 50 short films, establishing himself as a versatile storyteller across multiple disciplines.

Hedyeh was born and raised in Iran before moving to California at 16. She transitioned from studying Architecture to earning a B.A. in Drama from San Francisco State University, marking the beginning of her career in film and theatre. Her international background and diverse heritage have shaped her creative voice, bringing authenticity, emotional depth, and cultural perspective to every project.

As an actress, producer, and director, Hedyeh has worked across feature films, television, commercials, and independent productions. Alongside her work on screen, she plays a key role in leading productions at Young One Studio, overseeing projects from development through delivery while helping shape the company’s creative direction. Her experience both in front of and behind the camera gives her a unique understanding of storytelling, collaboration, and performance.

Administration

Gemma Adams brings a unique blend of creativity and organization to her role as Studio Coordinator at Young One Studio. With a background in dubbing, voice-over, administration, and production coordination, she helps keep projects running smoothly from the first client enquiry through final delivery.

Working closely with clients, cast, and crew, Gemma manages scheduling, production logistics, and day-to-day studio operations while ensuring every project receives the highest level of care. Her strong communication skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach help create an efficient production environment, making her an essential part of the Young One Studio team.

Audio Engineer | Operator

Edwin Li began his career volunteering as a Sound Operator for Channel 101, where he discovered his passion for production sound. Over the years, he has refined his skills while working across feature films, documentaries, podcasts, commercials, and social media content, developing a reputation for capturing clean, professional audio in any environment.

As the head of Young One Studio’s sound department, Edwin specializes in location sound recording and production audio. His technical knowledge, calm approach on set, and attention to detail ensure every production captures the highest-quality dialogue, making him an invaluable member of the team from the first take to the final wrap.
